Thank you for joining me on what will, hopefully, be the start of my new hobby – writing about movies. This blog will consist of lists of my favourite in each genre, actors, reviews, ratings, and much more.
“Movies touch our hearts and awaken our vision, and change the way we see things. They take us to other places, they open doors and minds. Movies are the memories of our life time, we need to keep them alive.”
― Martin Scorsese

I’m Andrew. I’m 22 years old, from Stoke-on-Trent, England and I have been a fan of movies for as long as I can remember.
When I was a child, my mother would buy VHS tapes for me to watch before bed. From Cinderella (1950), which was my favourite as a child, to Shrek (2001), and Casper (1995).
As I got a little older, a new year meant ONE thing. A new Harry Potter movie was coming out!
Thanks to my Mother reading the books to me as they were released, I was obsessed. The new release couldn’t come quick enough. It really was the highlight of my year. Revisiting Hogwarts year after year really was just like going back home, for me.
As I grew older, into my teenage years, I started to learn about horror movies. Up until this time, the scariest movie moment I’d witnessed was the Child-catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Who still keeps me up at night to this very day!).

I discovered classics like A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) and Friday the 13th (1980).
To an adult, those movies are tame nowadays. But to 12 year old Andrew, they were terrifying. Just the thought of falling asleep and dreaming of Freddie Krueger was enough to keep me up on a school night.
Fast-forward to 2019 as I write this, and my movie taste has grown dramatically. I admire the classics. I enjoy the horrors. I watch the Marvel movies in awe as I realise just how far CGI has come.
Next week, I will publish a list of my 2 favourite movies from each decade, starting from the 1950’s right up to today.
I have a question for my readers; What was the movie that made you the movie fan that you are today?
Please leave a comment and let me know! Whether it be on Facebook, or this blog post. Thank you for reading.
